Color
Color choice is another area to explore in itself. The dance between warm and cool colors can dazzle the eye. Cool mid-tones, bright and subdued hues or a limited palette. There is no right or wrong here. What looks good? Again, I think the answer is in the reaction of the viewer.
Composition
The way the picture plane is organized can make or break the piece. You just know when you look at a piece if something needs adjusting. Seems there is no written rules in composition, just theory that has been developed over thousands of years. Who is to say what is right and wrong? I guess the eye of the beholder.
Drawing & Painting
Portraits done in graphite, pastel, or color pencil. The piece begins with the drawing. The drawing is the light that guides the painting. How should I deal with this challenge? When I come across this thought I revert back to my drawing. One truly cannot exist without the other.
